  • There is something that has been bugging me from a time after the release of Laby's jobs.

It's said that Laby would be the fighter one (Type kicking and punching style Street Fighter wise), right?:)

Then why they decided to make Shining Romantica the Canon job (Who just shoots spheres and beams) instead of Eternity Winner (Who IS a real fighter following the theme)??(:?::!:

It has no sense! Make a fighter character and make canon the only thing that moves away of what makes a fighter what is... I don't get it!:|

  • Since Laby isn't released in EU servers, spoilers should be advised. But oh well, who haven't heard of her anyway.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but Laby, as base job I mean, isn't typed as a fighter per se. Maybe NA promotional announcement called her a brawler (and imo, they're not wrong, but not quite right either), but I can't say if KR did the same. She does use punches and kicks but she also relies on her mirror (and her own imagination). And as any character as base job, she has all traits that can lead through various paths. Only 1st line path might be considered as a fighter.

It's debatable whenever if Radiant Soul should be or not the canon path. But if you think this way : Eternity Winner just gave up on using her mirror and solely relied on herself. She almost didn't interact with Nisha and she harbors negative feeling towards her mirror. And so until reaching 3rd, because she was considering her mirror as a tool rather than a part of her. From what you know from Laby's epic quests (especially once reaching Elyanod), epic quest-Laby wanted to co-exist with Nisha after learning what Nisha is really.

Then, Eternity Winner definitely can't be the canon path.

    🌃

  • Then I'll go ahead and correct you.

Wanted to go back to old Elsword concept so chose to make Laby a fighter character (command oriented)

(From the last KOG meeting interview bla bla)

    One more time

    Laby’s 2nd path is story(canon) path

Laby’s 3rd path is (as everyone already expected) ‘dark’ path (Summoner concept)

It's not guessing, nor debatable stuff ; It's directly said by KOGERINO.

(The link to Babel's report in the quote, btw)

Feeding with my personnal opinion : Laby is basically a fighter, but still have ranged stuff. The Renewal we had ages ago gave (To melee chars, Ravs, Els, bla bla bla) ranged skills/commands, and it was a good idea. Honestly, i think this helped a lot in balance (Cya GA pvp domina... Shiet, they gave her the broken guided arrow...), and it's just going that way with new chars, that's all.

(And i said HELPED A LOT, I never said pvp and pve were perfectly balanced.)

d0m0a No one can answer you except KOG. But I can try to.

EW focus on her own strenght, being only interested in Nisha's pawa, disowning Nisha.

While RaS is the "balanced" one between EW and NL, two different entity, but living in harmony with eachother, inseparably.

NL is EW's opposite : She depends on Nisha. Being too scared and wounded by the "outside of the forest", she desesparately asked Nisha's help, and they just... Switched. Nisha became the physical form and Laby the mirror.

So I think KOG's choice isn't stupid, doing the same with Richtasshole B(oy's)L(ove)uhen and Depresscher, the balanced one between extremes is the Canon.

Edited 2 times, last by Esseker ().

  • No, EW is a fighter by concept, but is more inspired by Dragonball. A least if feels that way. She even is a fighting maniac. One of her quote is sometime like "Oh a fight? Pick Laby, pick Laby, please!". The whole point of the first path is her learning from Gaia. She does feel odd about Nisha at first, but her 3rd path is overcoming this. This is reflected in her passiv skills.

She is also the strongest character gameplay wise currently.

The other jobs are different yes. The last one isn't even Laby or a different Laby. Depends on how you interpret things.

KOG always likes to mix things up a bit instead of going for stereotypes. EW is as close to what you can call a fighter in Elsword as it can get. Also what KOG says an what's actually the case are two different things. Laby is by no means command oriented.

    Quote of the Year 2017

"Roses are red, yellow are ducks. It's 2017 and JS still sucks."

  • EW got a very clear fighter concept going. Her skills mostly focus on punching and kicking attacks, relying on high flexibility and superarmors.

RS is kind of the path that wants to "help everyone" including Nisha, communicating which each other. She mostly focuses on Party Buffs and supports the whole group, while she herself is not as strong.

NL did kind of the whole switcheroo, Laby becoming the mirror in Nishas stead, due to her suffering.

Radiant Soul is the least of the extremes. She does not outright neglect Nisha, nor does she let Nisha take her place, overly depending as much. Nisha and Laby are in synch as Radiant Soul. I think it's the perfect choice for her being canon
