  • - common words like "Ziegelstein" (brick in DE) get censored for literally no reason

    - probably doesnt affect only DE <-- need confirmation for that from non-DE players

    - it isnt possible to create a character with a name that contains "gm"

^probably because of the reason that some people name themselves "xXxXxGMxXxx" and people think that those are real GMs <-- *deleted*, A) there are warnings for that B) ignorant people dont need to be "protected" from those people

    change my mind

  • Just to make sure that ignorant people are protected, I'd have GMs use special characters in their tags, that normal users cannot have as part of their names. This would still make your examples as well as everyone referring to "GM" as a class (although wouldn't that be GrM?) in their super unique names legal.

Also, you know why Ziegelstein is banned. Ziegel ist ein ganz normales Wort und Stein auch, aber zusammen bilden sie ein verbales Hassgeschoss. But given that more people build houses with bricks than throwing them at another, I think I'm for it.

  • It's unfortunate for the " gm " in the pseudo, a real gm is [GM] Name so it's hard to get confused, and for the newcomers ... They can write something like " Reals GMs have a [GM] tag " in the tips while dungeons are loading

  • I asked a GM about this, and he told me that it HAPPENS that people got confused with it, I dont really believe it myself but there is no reason for him to lie for me

  • yeah I've seen your post about 'LutoFarmer' so I was genuinely confused and asked a GM from UK (Memoritter) about this and he was a bit confused too

but still, for some reason I cant create characters with a "gm" in their names

  • The Bad Word filter in general needs to be worked over, there are words in there that do not even make sense to be listed, while other words I could imagine being listed are not.

Best example would be the german word 'Ziegelstein' (EN: brick), which is censored in multiple languages.

  • "blöder" is cencored while "blöd" is not. These words mean the same thing "stupid" and "blöder" also has the meaning "more stupid".

I don't know who has access to the Filter but it really needs a little Rework... Just give the task to the Student Apprentice. xD

  • Hello, :)

I asked a GM about this, and he told me that it HAPPENS that people got confused with it, I dont really believe it myself but there is no reason for him to lie for me

Indeed, it happened more than you can imagine that some people got confused with this, and that is why we removed the possibility to write "gm" on nicknames.

Concerning the filter in general, if you notice any word that shouldn't be filtrated, or causing an issue due to the filter, please do not hesitate to let us know via this topic. :)

    Kind regards,

    Athena

what about the suggestion from tenshy? writing it into the tips on the loadingscreen of dungeons?

  • That'd be generally a good idea to have. Some of the [tips] seem fairly outdated, just as much as the bad word filter.

Maybe the perfect time to take some UI revamps into consideration (?). At least the localised ones

The difference is between "blöd" (adjective) and "Blöder" (noun). The first, while also being able to refer to people, says that some thing is stupid, the latter is always meant as an insult and just so happens to overlap with "more stupid" in lower case, as such filters are usually not case-sensitive for obvious reasons.

I'm going to do this even though the original topic is only about the censored "gm"!

Well.. not exactly but rather the opposite. I just found something that should be added to the filter.

    bitch > not censored

    bitches > censored

(Please tell me if I should rather write a PM with (non) filtered words than spamming this topic.)
