New rules come into effect in the EU and EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) from 14th September 2019 governing online payments and online banking which affect banking-based payment methods (e.g. credit cards, SOFORT, Giropay, online transfers etc.).
The new rules, laid down in the EU’s PSD2, aim to make payments and online banking more secure and protect consumers against fraud.
As part of the change, more robust customer authentication is required during the payment process.
What this means for you, depending on the method of payment you use, can be read about soon in a corresponding FAQ on our pages. We will inform you of this when it is time both via email and in the forums.
