Most of the time, the "u" in "qu" (in words like "que", "quoi", "quatre", or "quartier", for example) is not pronounced, I have no idea why. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's because in French, 4 is pronounced "quatre," but quite a few people say "quat'" (cat).
